Business partner Switzerland

Article Abstract:

Some 150 Swiss firms are expected to participate in the 1999 Hanover Fair. The large Swiss delegation will mean that Switzerland will be the seventh largest exhibitor at the Hanover Fair, one of Europe's most important industrial fairs. In cooperation with the Federal Office for Economic Development and Labour, the Swiss Office for Trade Promotion has organized four joint participation booths for Swiss companies that wish to prepare exhibits on the theme 'Switzerland: Export - Technology - Location.'

Article Abstract:

Opinions about Switzerland expressed over the years by several prominent personalities are presented. In 1815 Sydney Smith compared Switzerland to Scotland and found it inferior, while Lord Byron described it as a cursed and selfish country set in the world's most romantic region. In 1945, Winston Churchill praised the country for its democracy and neutrality. More recently, Caterpillar CEO Donald V. Fines commended Switzerland for its excellent business environment.

Switzerland's Canadian connection

Article Abstract:

Switzerland and Canada maintain warm relations with citizens of both countries freely visiting and even emigrating. In Switzerland, the 10,000 Canadian inhabitants are mostly athletes, nurses, artists and high-technology experts. There are also many Canadian companies in the country. In Canada, on the other hand, there are likewise a good number of Swiss emigres.
