CEG: a case based decision modeling architecture

Article Abstract:

A blackboard-based decision-making architecture for case-based decision and knowledge modeling is introduced. The architecture, which looks at decision-making as an experiential learning process, contains four components based on machine learning for case evidence generation (CEG) and acquisition in a multicriteria decision-making environment. An implementation of the CEG architecture to retail sales evaluation and medical decision making is also discussed.

Democracy and efficiency: a note on "Arrow's theorem is not a surprising result." (social choice theory) (Theory and Methodology)

Article Abstract:

Arrow's impossibility result is shown as an extreme aspect in aggregation procedure. A study by Phillipe Vincke is analyzed based on the structure of aggregation procedures proposed. Results indicate that under 'Arrowian' conditions, when efficiency is at the maximum, democracy is at the minimum. Vincke maintains the situation becomes less absolute when not all individual prferences are completely aggregated.

Ranking methods based on valued preference relations: a characterization of the net flow method

Article Abstract:

The problem of comparing and ranking a number of alternatives based on a valued preference relation is tackled. Three independent axioms are used to characterize the ranking method based on net flows. The rules of Copeland and Borda are incorporated in the model. The net flow method is also used in the multiple criteria decision making process.
