CIA is accused of misleading Italy on cleric

Article Abstract:

The United States Central Intelligence Agency allegedly spread misinformation about a Muslim cleric who is the subject of a criminal investigation by Italian authorities. The CIA told Italian authorities that Hassan Mustafa Osama Nasr was in the Balkans, when in reality Italian authorities believe Mr. Nasr was abducted by a CIA operative and spirited away to United States military bases and then sent to Egypt where he was allegedly interrogated and tortured by Egyptian authorities and subsequently released to house arrest.

EU pushes ahead with expansion despite the public's growing unease
