The space of freedom of the decision maker: modelling the human brain

Article Abstract:

The author acknowledges the persons who are instrumental to his being awarded the EURO Gold Medal for 1994. He then addresses the developments in Operations Research (OR) by first specifying the concept of OR, then elaborating on its principles, applications and impact since its inception in 1937. He also proposes another era for OR which incorporates the 'space of freedom of the decision-maker' wherein additional considerations are not altogether disregarded in light of the doubts that accompany a set of guiding principles in decision making.
