R Dapmon Pala is an exporter of coal from Meghalaya and has been recognised as an Export House. The company increased exports from Rs80.16 million in 1995-96 to Rs132.24 million in 1997-98. It is now the leading exporter of coal in the entire North-Eastern region of India. It has won a Certificate of Merit for the third successive year from the Chemicals & Allied Products Export Promotion Council. (khr)

OCFL TO DEVELOP UTKAL MINES
Article Abstract:
The government of Orissa has allocated the Utkal (E&F) coal mines at Talcher to the Oswal Chemicals and Fertilisers Ltd (OCFL). OCFL will develop the Utkal (E&F) coal mines into captive mines for its proposed Rs5,150-crore grassroot urea plant. It proposes to spend Rs440 crore on its coal mining activities. The mines are expected to have 385 million tonnes of coal and can be used for 22 years. (ag)
