NSE-50, CRISIL 500 GET NEW TAGS FROM TODAY

Article Abstract:

The NSE-50 and Crisil-500 indices will be renamed as S&P CNX Nifty and S&P CNX-500 respectively with effect from July 28, 1998. Indian Index Service & Products Ltd (IISL) which is a joint venture between Credit Rating Information Services of India Ltd (Crisil) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the will be handling these indices. NSE and Crisil will also be offering other indices like NSE MidCap and Crisil's sectoral indices to IISL. IISL will be licensing the trademark of Standard & Poor's (S&P) of the US which will be playing a central role in the activities of IISL. (ag)

GE CAPS CAN RAISE HOLDING UP TO 75%

Article Abstract:

GE Capital (GEC) will tie up with State Bank of India (SBI) to float two companies - one for financial consultancy and another for credit card business. In financial consultancy firm, GEC will pick up 60 percent stake which will be raised to 75 percent after completing three years business. In credit card business, SBI will have a majority stake of 60 percent and the rest will be held by GEC. The total foreign investment in the two ventures will be Rs70 crore. (gs)
