Cable & Wireless posts a loss and announces share buyback

Cable and Wireless PLC posted a 505 million pound net loss for the 2001 first-half. The company posted a 4.27 billion pounds profit during the same 2000 period. Cable and Wireless also announced a share repurchase worth 1.6 billion pounds.

France Telecom launches convertible bond issue

France Telecom S.A. has issued a convertible bond valued at 3 billion euros. The bond will issue a 3.75% to 4.25% coupon and a 42.9% to 48% conversion premium.
