Cablevision calls off special dividend

Cablevision Systems Corp. of the United States is withdrawing plans to offer an additional $3 billion dividend. Reasons include a discovery that the cable television broadcasting company may be in violation of one or more of its banking agreements. Shares in Cablevision Systems Corp. rallied at the news.

China Construction will pitch IPO valued at up to $7.7 billion

Article Abstract:

China Construction Bank Corp. of China is to launch an initial public offering that is one of the biggest of its kind from China. The banking concern is selling 26.49 billion shares for $1.80 to $2.25 Hong Kong Dollars and is planning to raise approximately $7.7 billion.

Japan's Nikkei closes above the 10000 mark

The Nikkei 225 Stock Average closed above the 10000 mark for the first time in a year. The stock exchange's performance represented the sixth time in the last seven sessions that stocks in Japan have risen.
