US air-deliverable TBM detector set for deployment

Article Abstract:

The US Air Force's Advanced Remote Ground Unattended Sensor (ARGUS) program involves the procurement of 3,200 new air-deliverable autonomous sensors that can detect, identify and locate time-critical targets in near real time. The ARGUS, which is expected to enter service by FY 2007, can be fired from an F-15E fighter aircraft or any other tactical aircraft with BRU-46/47 bomb racks and be emplaced by hand.

US embargoes EW sale to Taiwan

Article Abstract:

The US Army Communications-Electronics Command (CECOM)'s solicitation to supply an Army Communications Electronic Warfare System (ACEWS) for use by the Republic of China has een suspended indefinitely pending further notification of the US Government. CECOM plans to award a 42-month contract in Apr 2000 to provide ACEWS under the Security Assistance Management Directorate's classified non-standard foreign military sales program.

Candidate weapons line up for US Army's Future Combat System

Article Abstract:

Various types of weapons have been proposed to arm the various vehicle types that will form part of the US Army's Future Combat System (FCS). Organizations bidding for the Army's FCS weapons requirements must be able to demonstrate their proposed weapons by 2003, when the Chief of Staff of the Army will decide whether to proceed with FCS. The FCS is planned to enter service in 2012.
