Capacity rise at Madrid

Article Abstract:

Spain's airport authority AENA has disclosed that increased capacity at Madrid Barajas Airport from 35 to 46 departures per hour, and improved punctuality from 60% to 70% were a result of a package of improvements. These were carried out with technical assistance from UK NATS and Gemini Consulting. The improvements include a quick exit from the main runway, sequenced flight departures, revised handover instructions for ground movement and departure controllers, and improved management of the departure holding area.
