Car wheel production will be extended
Article Abstract:
Hayes Lemmerz Autokola (HLA) (Ostrava, Czech Republic), car wheel manufacturer, plans to launch cast aluminium wheels. The first two stages of the production in Ostrava have been agreed definitely. The stages will cost 26 mil USD and will be realised by 2000. About 200 new jobs will be set up within the project. HLA plans to produce 3.5 mil car wheels in 1998. The firm had a capacity of 1.5 mil formed car wheels per year in 1993. The firm invested 1 bil Kc in an increase in its capacity and the growth of its production quality in 1993-1997. HLA is a US-Czech joint venture.

Ostacolor Pardubice
Article Abstract:
Ostacolor (Pardubice, Czech Republic), chemical dyestuff distributor, saw a loss of 143.5 mil Kc in 1999. In 1998 the firm generated a profit of nearly 3.6 mil Kc. The 1999 loss was caused by financial operations. Ostacolor was granted foreign credits at the time when the exchange-rate of the US dollar was 27 Kc but in 1999 it had to repay the finance in an up-to-date exchange-rate. Ostacolor's 1999 proceeds totalled 2.5 bil Kc.
