Changes attract buyers

Article Abstract:

Severoceska armaturka (SA) (Usti nad Labem, Czech Republic), fittings company, has had a new owner since 01 June 2000. Before the company was sold, it had been restructured to improve economic indicators and the market value. The restructuring was done by Prospective Solution (PS) (Czech Republic) from October 1999 to May 2000. According to PS's proposal, SA was divided into individual organizational degrees, introduced controlling and made the economy of the individual divisions and centres transparent. During 1H 2000 it reduced the number of employees by 140 from the original 460 to raise the per-worker productivity of labour from 600,000 Kc at the beginning of 2000 to 800,000 Kc in the middle of 2000. By the end of 2000 SA should raise its per-worker productivity of labour to 1 mil Kc. The company saw a loss of 20 mil Kc in 1999 and a loss of 40 mil Kc in 1998.

ABB Alstom Power changes name

Article Abstract:

Alstom Power (Brno, Czech Republic), power equipment manufacturer, is a new name of the original ABB Alstom Power Czech. The change was made within the purchase of a 50% stake in ABB (Sweden/Switzerland) by Alstom (France), which is number one on the global market in the field of the supplies of power services and equipment. In the Czech Republic, Alstom has 1,900 employees and is weighing further acquisitions including firms from the holding engineering company Skoda Plzen (Plzen, Czech Republic).

Article Abstract:

Mitas (Prague, Czech Republic), rubber company, plans to invest 57.6 mil USD, roughly 2.1 bil Kc, during 2000-2003 to extend its production. About 80% of the sum will be invested in machinery from OECD's high-tech list. The future production is intended primarily for exports. Mitas produces mainly tyres for building and farming machines.
