Aviapartner's self-service kiosk at Brussels National Airport allows passengers to input information about lost luggage. The input of the data can be made easily and quickly on a touchscreen terminal. The data includes airline details, passenger contact information, flight itinerary and baggage description. Aviapartner services over 35 airlines in Belgium and averages a 95% positive results within 48 hours of its lost bag files. The company intends to install the system in other airports.

New high-volume ticket printer

IER, a leading manufacturer of printing terminals and systems, has unveiled a new ATB ticket printer designed for high-volume, high-speed applications. Called IER 177, the ticket printer features an internal design that uses a very straight paper path to avoid jams and reduce wearing parts. Its other features include a bright LED display and user- friendly control panel with profile buttons for reprogrammed configurations.

Samsung Electronics of South Korea and Barco of Belgium have launched the 28-inch 2Kx2K LCD display, called ISIS, for air traffic control in Oct 2000. The flat panel display set a new record in the LCD industry, having the largest screen size and highest number of pixels. It is also equipped with an intelligent back light system and capable of auto alignment and automatic phase adjustment.
