Kunde weg: Rath baut Arbeitspl tze ab

Article Abstract:

The Austrian Krummnu baum-based refractories producer Rath is planning to take over a west European refractories producer by the end of 1998. With the acquisition, turnover should reach the Sch 700mn mark. In 1997 it grew 5.6% to Sch 602.9mn, while profit on ordinary activities surged 83.5% to Sch 62.4mn and profit for the year 155% to Sch 69.1mn. According to chairman Ernst Rath, the company will probably cut staff from 130 to 100 due to the loss of a client for flue linings. Rath has not been able to reach agreement with staff about more flexible working time. It would like to be able to vary the weekly working time between 32 and 46 hours.
