...as Swisscontrol feels the pressure

Article Abstract:

Swisscontrol, an air traffic control (ATC) service provider in Switzerland, said ATC capacity at its Geneva and Zurich centers will not expand in 1999, despite Switzerland being one major area of congestion. In 1998, the company handled 1.82 million passengers, a 5.7% increase. By comparison, capacity improved by just 4.2%. Based on the Eurocontrol formula that surpassing capacity by 1% leads to an 8% increase in delays, Swisscontrol delays should have been 50% instead of the actual 34%.
