China Oilfield fight highlights questions about governance

Article Abstract:

China Oilfield Services is asking its investors to approve a plan to place 40% of its revenue with Cnooc Finance Ltd., a company that is owned by its parent company. Many investors and corporate-governance advocates perceive the plan as bad one because it would place such a significant amount of the company's profits in the control of one of its main shareholders.
