China and the War Party

Article Abstract:

A bipartisan coalition in the US is calling for autarky and military aggression, especially in respect of relations with China. It is important that all Asian nations are aware of this trend, as they may one day be in the position that China is in at present. The coalition is made up of people who pay no attention to the economic issues involved in relations between the US and China. There are also national socialists who are against any type of international trade and certain elements of the religious right, who claim that the Chinese government has no respect for human rights.

Trouble ahead for a U.S.- China 'partnership.'

Article Abstract:

China's uncommon interests with the US are creating a possibly troubled US - China partnership. China has been expressing its own vision for Asia, with the US getting a minor role, as the country grows more confident about its role is a major player in the region. Though China and the US have common interests such as creating regional stability and fighting organized and environmental crime, it is best that the two countries recognize the need to solve the conflict as early as possible before the Sino-American relationship completely falters.

Split personality

Article Abstract:

The US House of Representatives passed eight pieces of anti-China legislation only shortly after Chinese President Jiang Zemin had visited the US. Relations between the US and China seemed to be becoming more positive during Jiang Zemin's visit, but the legislation indicates that there are still a number of areas of conflict. These include China's human rights record and trade in products made with prison labour. The significant problem of lack of bipartisan support for a China policy still remains.
