China is planning moves to encourage housing purchases: greater private home ownership is just part of ambitious reforms introduced by Zhu Rongji

Article Abstract:

Private home ownership is being encouraged in the new reforms being initiated by Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji, mainly as an impetus for economic development. The planned opening up of the Chinese home market is bound to affect many economic activities, not only in home mortgage and finance but also in building new jobs which comes from housing developments. The reforms include the abolition of state subsidies in housing and the encouraging of housing developments, as well as higher taxes for speculative housing sales.

Multinationalists hope to score big in China with sports sponsorships

Article Abstract:

Multinational corporations are determined to boost sports sponsorships in China. Athletics in the country has grown as central television and cable stations put up sports channel and thousands of fans regularly trek to soccer and basketball games. Western and Chinese corporations, especially tobacco and alcohol entities are using sports sponsorships because of restrictions on television advertising.
