Kerkorian may purchase more MGM Grand shares

Article Abstract:

MGM Grand Inc. Chairman Kirk Kerkorian announced that he may acquire more shares in the casino company following MGM Grand's earlier purchase of six million of its own shares. The latest acquisition increases Kerkorian's 62.5% stake in MGM Grand to 69.7%. Kerkorian reported that he would either make the future purchase personally or through his closely held Tracinda Corp. The purchases follow several months of lower-than-expected earnings of MGM Grand. Wall Street observers said the declining earnings could be indicative of the casino industry in Las Vegas, NV, because of overbuilding in the area.
