Chrysler's storied Hemi motor helps it escape Detroit's gloom

DaimlerChrysler AG in the United States is racking up big profits and market share with the sale of the Hemi engine, a powerful V8 engine, in its passenger cars. A clever marketing campaign asks "That thing got a Hemi?" DaimlerChrysler AG posted operating profit of $1.9 billion for 2004, compared with a loss of $685 million for 2003.
