Clothing and footwear in Germany

Article Abstract:

It is thought that retail sales of textiles and clothing in Germany totalled some 109 billion German marks in 1995, down around 4.5% from 1994. Sales of ladies' wear suffered most and fell by between 5% and 6%. It is expected that the clothing and footwear industries will suffer further decline in 1996, with much depending upon reasonable wage settlements. A detailed analysis of the German textile and clothing industries is presented.

Non-food retailing in the Netherlands

Article Abstract:

Retail sales in the Netherlands have grown by some 1% a year since 1992, with non-food retail sales being particularly poor, experiencing a fall in both volume and value sales in 1994. Most retailers agree that there will not be any substantial growth if the current market conditions prevail. An analysis of non-food retailing activity in the Netherlands is presented.
