Coffee makers

Article Abstract:

The U.K. market for coffee makers has been falling slowly, caused partly by customer dissatisfaction with the available equipment and partly by the heavy marketing of instant coffee. Volume sales in 1993 totalled 696,000 units, valued at 19 million pounds sterling, against 757,000 units, valued at 21 million pounds sterling, in 1992. There are several sectors in the market, including paper filter, percolators and espresso. The market is dominated by filter models, with a 77% volume share in 1993. It is predicted that sales will total 17 million pounds sterling in 1995, 1996 and 1997, rising to 18 million pounds sterling in 1998.
