Poland to privatise first metal plants

Article Abstract:

The Ministry of Privatisation in Poland will privatise Huta Olawa, a zinc, lead and cadmium plant, and Zaklady Metali Lekkich (ZML), a light metals foundry and processing factory. The IPO sales will raise capital through new shares offered alongside the government shares. ZML dominates the domestic aluminium products market and Huta Olawa is prominent in the domestic zinc, lead and cadmium oxides market.

New Polish privatisation path launched

Article Abstract:

The ministry of privatisation in Poland is introducing a new method of privatisation for small and medium sized companies which cannot be privatised by conventional methods. Sale by tender has been authorised under the Privatisation Law of 1990, but has not yet been implemented. Domestic and foreign investors can take part in tenders with offers assessed by a special commission.

Poland's 1995 programme approved

Article Abstract:

The Polish State Budget for 1995 has been approved including the privatisation programme. The privatisation process is expected to continue and the National Investment Funds wil be established so that shares in the companies taking part can be allocated to individual Funds.
