Combat direction system guides the way for LCF frigates

Article Abstract:

The Royal Netherlands Navy (RNLN) has executed the first attempts to construct the SEWACO XI combat direction system (CDS) for its next-generation air-defense and command (LCF) De Zeven Provincien-class frigates. A deal for the CDS infrastructure equipment for the four 6,200-ton ships, valued at $73 million, was entered into with Signaal on May 27, 1998. RNLN's Center for the Automation of Weapons and Command Systems (CAWCS) in Den Helder Naval Base is preparing for SEWACO XI software development which will be accelerated in August 1998. The deal with Signaal includes 96 advanced multifunction operator consoles and 152 desktop workstations.

Indian Navy's INS Kora shows its colors at Abu Dhabi

Article Abstract:

Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers presented its latest product, the missile corvette INS Kora at the Mar 1999 IDEX exhibition in Abu Dhabi. The ship was built in eight years and was commissioned on Aug 10, 1998. The Kora, which is being subjected to work-up exercises, is part of the initial batch of the Project 25A design which is based on the Project 25 Khukri-class. The Kora uses 16 Zvezda Uram missiles instead of the Khukris' SS-N-2D Styx anti-ship missiles.
