Article Abstract:

Architect Rab Bennetts points out architects must learn to value other workers in the construction industry. He has found several design and build projects have gone ahead satisfactorily because the architects and contractors worked well with each other. He also wants young architects to have a greater understanding of construction methods. Bennetts has joined the Movement for Innovation to help restore the position of the architect in the industry. Sir John Egan's report' Rethinking Construction' initially ignored the role of the architect until Bennetts was able to talk to him.
