Germany will avoid U.K.'s problems

Article Abstract:

The UK's privatized railroad industry is not doing so well, since Railtrack PLC has collapsed into insolvency. After watching the collapse of Britain's rail system, Germany decided to drop plans to separate the state-owned rail company Deutsche Bahn AG into two companies, with one maintaining the network and the other one running the trains.

Slower growth hits cellphone services overseas

Article Abstract:

The cell phone market in the European Union and Japan after experiencing explosive growth is slowing and in some places contracting. In the European Union there has been a saturation of no-frills service providers. Cell phone market penetration in the European Union exceeds 100 percent and in Germany is approximately 90 percent.

Copy fight: NatWest tests its new system to protect music copyrights

Article Abstract:

National Westminster Bank PLC's Magex product will prevent the unauthorized copying of compressed music files using the MP3 standard. The music industry is pleased with the product because it will enable them to keep better control over their products. Critics, however, believe that consumer will not welcome the technology and may boycott web sites that use Magex.
