Creating a building within a building in Tel Aviv

Article Abstract:

Ron Arad Associates's design for the box-office, bar and foyer of the Tel Aviv Opera House is under construction. Arad's design is for a complex, curving structure that is positioned like an island within the main glass and concrete building. Steel frames are used to define the shape of the 'building within a building.' As well as the complexity of the design, Arad has to deal with difficult relations with the main architect and having to control work from a distance.
