Cultural Claptrap

Article Abstract:

Academicians in Pacific Rim universities are incorrectly explaining the success of Overseas Chinese as a result of their race and cultural history. Some scholars claim that Confucianism and other cultural elements lead to a cooperative, rather than competitive, mentality, which fosters success. Other scholars claim Chinese people succeed because of racial characteristics, such as an affinity for economics, which may be more or less intense among different Chinese individuals.
