DENMARK: BONBON TO TARGET EUROPEAN MARKETS

Article Abstract:

The Danish confectionary producer BonBon is to start targeting export markets in Scandinavia, southern and western Europe. Production capacity was doubled already in 1999, and is planned to be further extended. The company has also agreed about co-operation with several importers. Michael Spangsberg, who is the owner of BonBon, says the growth target is "very many percent" but doesn't want to reveal any details. For 1999, turnover is estimated at about DKr 310mn (USD 42mn), a 10% increase company with 1998.

DENMARK: DANDY'S YEARLY RESULT

Article Abstract:

Danish chewing gum manufacturer Dandy shows a net income of 13.4 million DKr (US$1.86mn) for 1998, which is only one fourth of the income in 1997. The turnover amounted to 1,648 million DKr, a decrease of 150 million DKr compared to 1997. The main reason behind the poor result is the economic meltdown in Russia, Dandy's largest market. The company would actually have shown a loss if it wasn't for a tax refund of 31 million DKr.
