DENMARK: DANISH PRIME REPORTS PROFIT GROWTH

Danish Prime, the biggest producer of convenience foods and ready meals in Denmark and part of the group Danish Crown, has increased profits by as much as 180% in the past three years. For the fiscal 1998/99, the company reports a DKr 53mn (USD 7.5mn) profit, compared with DKr 19mn in 1996/97. Turnover was DKr 850mn in 1998/99, up from DKr 705mn in 1996/97. MD Torben Schou says the quality of ready meals has improved considerably in the past few years. Soya protein based foods are no longer produced, but replaced by meat-based products.

DENMARK:VIBORG GRUPPEN HOLDING ANNOUNCES ANNUAL RESULTS

Article Abstract:

Viborg Gruppen Holding, the Danish company in the business of the production of rubber mixtures, retreading and sale of tyres and wheels, has reported net sales of DKr4.3bn and a profit of DKr103mn before tax and extraordinary items. The company has a 3,400-strong staff. Denmark accounts for DKr0.5bn of the group's turnover whereas Germany accounts for more than DKr800mn and other European markets DKr2.9bn.
