DENMARK: INFLAMMABLE ROOFING MATERIALS

Article Abstract:

The Danish producers Icopal and Phonix have supplied the domestic market with inflammable roofing materials in the past years. According to a test by Dansk Brandteknisk Institut, the Danish institute for fire prevention, for the paper Berlingske Tidende, thousands of buildings are covered with inflammable roofing-felt. Icopal's and Phonix' domestic production is exempted from annual tests by fire authorities, and their products are much more inflammable now than when they were tested back in 1993. The Danish Ministry of Housing says it's unacceptable to provide the market with such products, and threatens to impose penalties on the companies.

DENMARK: ICOPAL TO SLOW DOWN ACQUISITIONS

Article Abstract:

In future, Icopal, the Danish roofing felt producer, will not acquire companies to the same extent as in the past few years. MD Hans Andreassen says the company will focus more on its debt level. However, Icopal will not completely stop making acquisitions, he says. Possibly, Icopal will sell off some activities such as the Norwegian plastic foil division. So far, the company has not revealed any details about sell-off plans.
