DENMARK: "INTERNET TRADING IS SAFE"

Article Abstract:

Internet portal Jubii and payment systems supplier Architrade reject all accusations that safety with Internet trading is poor following Borsen's successful effort some time ago to order a personal computer from the web store Nem Computer and a compact disc via the Internet free of charge without providing the necessary payment-card data. Jubii says that this could happen only when the web stores themselves are careless with the control of payment transaction on the Net. Jubii marketing manager Martin Thorborg says the payment system works but that the above cases were caused by a minor technical error.

DENMARK: MAJOR CHAINS NOT TO START E-COMMERCE

Article Abstract:

Neither FDB nor Dansk Supermarked, the major Danish supermarket groups, will participate in the real estate company Steen & Strom's introduction of e-commerce services, which will include up to 900 stores in 17 retail centres in Denmark. The market for electronic trade of foods and everyday commodities will not reach a sufficient level until in 2001, at the earliest, according to the two Danish giants. Supermarkets operated by FDB and Dansk Supermarked account for about 40% of turnover of Steen & Strom's centres.

DENMARK: PLANS FOR GLOBAL INTERNET TV

Article Abstract:

In Denmark, radio stations The Voice and Nordisk Film are planning to set up a tv station on the Internet. The entry of tv stations is another reminder that the political control over the media is about to crumble. American foreigntv.com supplies tv programmes via its home page and the company aims to become the leading Internet tv company. The tv station is in the process of establishing a network of web sites around the world such as www.denmarktv.com for the coverage of local news.
