DENMARK: NOVOZYMES TARGETS 10% ANNUAL GROWTH

Article Abstract:

Novozymes, the Danish producer of enzymes, reported a 21% growth in operating profit to DKr382mn (US$44.4mn) in the first half of 2001, which outstrips the company's expectations of a 10% growth for the whole of 2001. The company plans to reach its target of an annual growth of at least 10% through acquisitions at the initial stage and through participation in pharmaceutical/technological R&D projects at a later stage. Novozymes has boosted its sales of enzymes to the food industry by 19% and reports a 52% increase in sales of enzymes to the animal feeds. The company is also on the look-out of a partner for the development of a completely new type of antibiotic.

Denmark: Novozymes develops new enzymes with Maxygen

Article Abstract:

Novozymes co-operates with the US company Maxygen are to develop new industrial enzymes. For this purpose Novozymes will win a license to use Maxygen's MolecularBreeding technology. Novozymes R&D manager Per Falholt expects the company to be able to launch the new products developed under the co-operation to the market next year.

Denmark: Novozymes wins energy prize

Article Abstract:

Novozymes, that produces enzymes, has been awarded the prize for "The Most Energy-Efficient Company in 2001" by Dansk Energi, the trade organisation for the energy sector. The company has invested more than DKr30mn (US$3.6mn) in energy-saving measures and has been able to cut energy consumption by 21 mn kWh.
