DENMARK: MAERSK DATA'S 1999 RESULTS

Article Abstract:

The Danish IT company Maersk Data reports a DKr 125.7mn (USD 16.3mn) net profit for 1999, up from DKr 66.6mn in 1998. Turnover increased to DKr 1,682mn from DKr 966mn. For 2000, Maersk Data expects growth in both turnover and profit, even though turnover growth is not expected to be as huge as in 1999. The health sector is one of the core areas, and the company expects that future streamlining of the sector will involve increased usage of information technology. The company focuses on e-commerce, web shops and software services.

SWEDEN: MAERSK DATA AIMS TO FOCUS ON SWEDEN

Article Abstract:

Maersk Data, the Danish IT company, aims to expand on the Swedish market following its recent acquisition of Framfab's 40-strong workforce in Lund. Maersk Data is targeting the whole of Scandinavia but says the growth prospects are bigger in Sweden than in Norway as Norway is more consolidated.

DENMARK: TDC LAUNCHES A NEW INTERNET CONTENT PROJECT

Article Abstract:

TDC, the Danish telecommunications company, has launched a new project called "Boomtown", which means setting up Internet cafes in Denmark. The first one, which is the biggest in Denmark, has already started operations in Copenhagen's Tivoli district. This project is part of an effort to focus on online games, which is to teach clients to pay for Internet content. As from 30th August, Internet users on TDC's Opasia portal will receive an offer to start subscribing to a service that gives access to a number of popular games.
