DENMARK: VESTAS' 1999 RESULTS

Article Abstract:

Vestas, the Danish manufacturer of wind power plants, reports a DKr 652mn (USD 85mn) pre-tax profit for 1999, up from DKr 258mn in 1998. Operating profit improved to DKr 477mn from DKr 238mn, and turnover increased to DKr 4,710mn from DKr 2,830mn. For 2000, the company expects a DKr 5.9-6.1bn turnover and a DKr 750-800mn pre-tax profit. However, the profit margin is expected to decline to 9% from 11%. Vestas estimates investments in new wind power generators in the world to total 5,700 MW this year, compared with 3,800 MW in 1999.

Denmark: Vestas aims to boost its global market share

Vestas, the Danish wind turbine producer, sets a new target for its global market share. It now aims to reach a 25-30% stake of the market vs. 17.9% last year. The situation in the global market will tighten now that Vestas has sold 40% of the share in its associated Danish company Gamesa Eolica. Vestas and Gamesa Eolica together sold last year 31.8% of all the new wind turbines in the world

DENMARK: VESTAS TO START SUBSIDIARY IN SCOTLAND

Danish Wind Technology, that is subsidiary of the wind-power station producer Vestas, is to invest GBu2.8mn to set up a subsidiary and production facilities in Scotland with the view of expanding market share in the UK and Ireland. The name of the new company will be Vestas - Celtic Wind Technology.
