DENMARK: MERITANORDBANKEN TO GO FOR UNIDANMARK

Article Abstract:

The Finnish/Swedish bank MeritaNordbanken is likely to interested in acquiring the Danish financial group Unidanmark, according to analysts at JP Morgan Securities. This might be the consequence of the Norwegian Government's reluctance to sell Christiania Bank og Kreditkasse. The paper writes that the merger between Unidanmark and the insurance company Tryg-Baltica has gone smoother and faster than expected, and expects that synergies will be reached earlier than anticipated.
