DISNEY TO LAUNCH CHANNEL, GO FOR REGIONAL LANGUAGES

Article Abstract:

Buena Vista Television India (BVTI) plans to launch a Disney pay channel in India, after the Prasad Bharti Bill is passed by the government. The channel will telecast Walt Disney cartoons and other Walt Disney television products. BVTI plans to dub popular Walt Disney cartoons and other television products in regional languages and telecast them in free-to-air channels. BVTI is a 51:49 joint venture of the KK Modi Group and Walt Disney of US. It has completed dubbing of 1,000 hours of programme in regional languages. BVTI plans to set up a library to provide viewers with a choice of different Disney cartoons. (rk)

VATSA TO LAUNCH MUSIC CHANNEL

Article Abstract:

Vatsa Corporation of Mumbai will launch the Vatsa Television Network on January 14, 1999. The first channel on the network will be dedicated to 24-hour Hindi music. The company has already invested about Rs200 crore in setting up the required infrastructure. It has booked a slot on an Indonesian satellite. Initially it aims to beam programmes to 54 countries in Asia. The network will focus on quality entertainment. (gs)

SATYAM INFOWAY TO LAUNCH WEB TV

Article Abstract:

India's first Web TV service will be introduced by Satyam Infoway in January 1999. Initially, Satyam Infoway will offer the service in Chennai on a trial basis. The Web TV service will allow TV owners to access Internet through a set-top box. Satyam Infoway will be offering Internet services in rural areas of Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat and Punjab. (ag)
