DTAB CLEARS EXPORT OF NEW MOLECULES, STRINGS ATTACHED

Article Abstract:

The Drug Technical Advisory Board (DTAB) has permitted export of molecules that are not permitted to be sold in the domestic markets. However the DTAB has laid down 17 conditions to be fulfilled before export permission is given. Some of the conditions include a method for checking the possible misuse of export licenses, where products designated for the export markets are sold in the Indian market. The guidelines specified by the DTAB is similar to the guidelines of the Food and Drug Administration of USA. (uh)(vr)

RANBAXY TO GO FOR MOLECULE LICENSING AFTER PHASE I TRIALS

Ranbaxy Laboratories plans to go for a licensing deal for RBx 2258, its original research molecule for the treatment of benign prostatic hypertrophy only after completion of phase I clinical trials in India. The company has applied to the Drug Controller of India for permission to carry out the clinical trials, which may take up to a year. (khr)
