Belgium's Interbrew, a brewing company, has acquired a 50.8% stake in DESNA of the Ukraine in order to build a market in the country. The deal means that Interbrew will own one of the Ukraine's most popular beer brands, Chernigev, which has a 6% share of the beer market, and will give it a platform to later launch its international brands. Interbrew will have global sales of 36.5 million hl when the agreement is finalised.
