DVD standard is up for grabs

Article Abstract:

The article focuses on the digital videodisk (DVD), and how the product is beginning its final attempt to replace videotape. Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. has launched a $4,000 (Euro4,674) DVD recorder under its Panasonic brand to U.S. stores in August. Pioneer Corp. will be introducing similar products soon.

Bausch market share in Lens-care plunges

Bausch & Lomb Inc. of the United States has withdrawn ReNu with MoistureLoc when it was linked to fungal infections of the eyes in Asia and the United States. The eyewear company has seen market share decrease by 31 percent to 29 percent.

Golf-ball makers fight air war

Tiger Woods switched to Nike's Nike Tour Accuracy golf ball made by Bridgestone Sports. Previously, Woods and most of the world's best golfers used Titleist balls, which they were paid to use and used to win tournaments.
