Daewoo chairman powers firm's drive into Europe

Article Abstract:

South Korean conglomerate Daewoo Corp., under the aggressive leadership of its chairman Kim Woo Choong, has decided to expand its European operation by revitalizing Poland's automobile industry. The firm enters a market which rival General Motors had earlier considered as unpromising. Daewoo produces many other products such as television sets and microwave ovens. Its policies are based on a faith in long-term growth and development.

Eastern Europe dazzles Asian industry

Article Abstract:

Many Asian industries have found numerous business opportunities in East European countries such as Hungary, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Romania. Aside from the low production costs, the region's close proximity to West European markets and special EU tariff privileges make it an ideal production location. Some of the largest Asian investors in Eastern Europe include Daewoo, Sony, Panasonic and TDK.

Australia makes the best of unlikely role as partner in CeBIT technology fair

Article Abstract:

Australia was an unlikely exhibitor at the recent CeBIT held in Hanover, Germany. The 'Australia, Intelligent Australia' exhibit featured massive displays which promoted the Australian subsidiaries of companies such as IBM and Apple. Although there were some innovative Australian-made products on display, most observers noted that the main attraction of the displays were the Australian oddities.
