Defeat for Chapman Taylor in York

Article Abstract:

The lost of public inquiry of 60 pound billion retail scheme for York's historic town centre by Champan Taylor is discussed. The secretary of the state accepts that the proposed development would result in some benefits to York, however, some or all of these benefits could not be achieved either by a less damaging development on the same site, or by less development of a less sensitive alternative site such as the Hungate area.

Koolhaas in the clear and set to sue

Article Abstract:

Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas has been cleared of plagiarism and is now considering ways to recover the legal costs he incurred during the 8-year legal battle. Koolhaas was accused of stealing drawings from former employee and student Gareth Pearce and using them in his design of the Kunsthal art gallery building in Rotterdam.

ARB puts squeeze on part-timers

Article Abstract:

The ARB has changed the rules governing professional indemnity insurance. The shift could mean the end for part-time architects. Minimum levels of indemnity cover have been raised and made compulsory.
