Schering will take a stake MorphoSys and fund research

Article Abstract:

As part of a strategic partnership between the two companies, Schering AG has reached a deal to acquire a minority share of MorphoSys AG. Schering will acquire 10% of MorphoSys. Both firms will also conduct joint development of diagnostic tests and antibody drugs.

BASF will buy Degussa division in bid to diversify

Article Abstract:

BASF AG of Germany is to purchase Degussa AG's chemical-construction business for 2.2 billion Euros ($2.62 billion). The chemical giant is also trying to buy catalyst maker, Engelard Co. of the United States, in a hostile acquisition. BASF AG is planning to diversify to avoid negative cyclical margins.
