Delphi filing lifts risk on collateralized debt

Article Abstract:

Derivatives have been a hot investment with good returns in a poor return environment. However, Delphi Corp. of the United States has declared bankruptcy illustrating caution. With collateralized debt obligation downgrades there is the possibility of losses on derivative investments.

Barclays gets resistance from Atticus on ABN bid

Article Abstract:

Shares of Barclays PLC have been acquired by U.S. hedge fund company Atticus Capital LP, which has met with the British bank to examine whether Barclays should end its attempt to purchase Dutch bank ABN Amro Holding N.V. The deal is valued at $85.1 bil.

Options grant by HealthSouth is off the charts

Shareholder Thomas D. Mottola was given 250,000 stock options by HealthSouth Corp. in February 2002. Questions have been raised as to the number of stock options given to Mottola, a former head of Sony's music unit.
