Delta's $1.6bn JFK expansion

Article Abstract:

Delta Air Lines plans to undertake a $1.6 billion terminal expansion and redevelopment program at New York City's John F Kennedy International Airport. The expansion program will cover Terminals 2 and 3, which the airline uses for domestic and international operations, and the new Terminal 4. Terminal 2 will be enlarged from 12 to 20 gates while Terminal 3 would be demolished. An additional 26 gates would be added to Terminal 4, which would all be used by Delta.

Breaking the noise barrier

Article Abstract:

Amsterdam Airport Schiphol has started the construction of its fifth and longest runway in Sep 2000. The tarmac strip is being built significantly further west of the airport's property to decrease the noise pollution carried to residents in the city of Amsterdam, Netherlands. The new run way will be operational by autumn 2003 and will only accept flights coming from the north in order to pass over areas with low population densities.
