Denmark: Sony aims at pole position in Denmark

Article Abstract:

Sony plans to enter into competition with B & O and Philips in the consumer electronics sector in Denmark. First and foremost Sony wants to increase their TV-sales, but they will also promote their Memory stick (a portable storage device) and MiniDisc player. Sony is developing concept stores for retailers that want to focus on Sony's products. They will also offer "shop-in-shop" solutions that demand less space. Henrik Kaas, general manager of Sony Denmark does not think that the market will grow in 2002. Therefore, Sony's strategy will be to gain market shares from their competitors, in order to reach pole position in 2003. Sony thinks that the future lies within "connectivity" - where consumers are able to connect all their technical devices. In connection with the MD-player, they also talk about "Go Create", the idea that costumers shall be able to create their own experiences.

DENMARK: COMPAQ POSSIBLY TO BE FINED

Article Abstract:

Compaq might be fined for misleading marketing in Denmark. This is due to locked keys on its PC's which are used for directing users towards specific home pages on the Internet. According to the operating instructions, these keys can be used for entering preferred home pages, but these pagers have already been defined by Compaq. The case is now being investigated by Forbrugerstyrelsen, the Danish board for consumer issues.

Denmark: Computer sales expected to rise

Article Abstract:

Computer sales in Denmark is expected to rise by 100 000 units in 2002 if the new government's plan to reintroduce the system of subsidized home-pc:s is carried out. The promise of a computer for every student starting seventh grade in Denmark will boost sales with another 60 000, giving an expected addition of 160 000 units compared to today.
