Design of an IT-driven decision support system for vehicle routing and scheduling

Article Abstract:

The contribution of IT systems support in effectively planning and managing the complex delivery process of oil products from a number of distribution centers to all customers is discussed. It is observed that, the combinations of supply chain systems (SCM), geographical information system (GIS) integrated with an enterprise resource planning (ERP) software has lead to optimum utilisation of network resources, transportation cost reduction and customer service improvement.

Optimal procurement strategies for online spot markets

Article Abstract:

The resulting procurement challenge and the benefits of using spot markets from a supply chain perspective is analyzed through research. Results with numerical examples demonstrate that significant profit improvements can be achieved if a moderate fraction of the commodity demand is procured via spot markets.

Implications of cell design implementation: a case study and analysis

Article Abstract:

A model for implementing cell design consisting of strategic, structural, and operational decisions are developed using an implementation experience in a millwork manufacturing operation. The way in which the analysis of this system and the assignment of operators to cells were performed is described.
