Article Abstract:

Latest developments in videoconferencing technology are making it quick and easy for people in different locations to communicate with each other. Videoconferencing offers a number of advantages over more traditional communications methods, including being able to analyse participants' body language and being able to discuss plans or documents. The equipment can cost as little as 199 pounds sterling per terminal for document sharing.

Towards the digital janitor: AT&T and Honeywell's new building management system points to a new generation of flexible and responsive control

Building management systems (BMS) are essential for maintaining internal comfort conditions, managing fire and security systems and lifts, in many buildings. The Intelligent Building System (IBS) was developed by Honeywell and AT&T, involving the use of software linked to structured cabling, incorporating building security, fire alarm and detection, lighting controls and data and telephone networks.
