Disney names Callahan president of ABC unit

Robert F. Callahan has been appointed as the new president of the ABC Broadcast Group. The 48-year old Callahan will have control of most of ABC's and Disney's television and radio operations.

NBC Universal to buy women's web site iVillage

General Electric Co.'s NBC Universal of the United States is to acquire iVillage Inc. also of the United States for $600 million. iVillage Inc. is the high volume women-oriented Web site. The acquisition is a move to greater internet advertising market share.
