Golden pills: drug companies

The pharmaceutical industry has had its stocks drop after scathing attacks by Pres Clinton on what he termed as 'unconscionable' prices and profits. A report from the Office of Technology Assessment shows drug companies have made excess profits of $2 billion a year.

Pres Clinton's plans for deficit reduction include measures for raising user fees for federal lands to market rates. He and Secretary of the Interior Bruce Babbitt intend to raise $1 billion by raising livestock grazing fees and other land use charges.
